Chap Mei rides again, and other toy stuff...

QUESTION:

Let's see, Chap mei makes soldiers, knights, SWAT, astronauts, fire fighters, and now Big Builder Construction Co. Rite Aid had the following:
$8 Steel Head Mike (names!) w/crate of tools, plastic rocks, and tracked power shovel w/buldozer blade Cracka Jakk w/jackhammer, bags of cement, more rocks, and a skid steer front end loader Woody John (he he..Woody) w/concrete culvrets, a loading pallet, more cement, and a fork lift.

For $14, you'd get 2 vehicles, 2 figures, more acessories like barracades, traffic cones, and "Men Working" signs. No single carded figures. There's 3 other figures on the back of the box; High Go Joe, Welder Norman, and Foreman Roy. Back of the box showed some other items like cement mixers, scaffolding, whell barrows, big steel crates, etc. If you've already bought some of Lanard's Construction Corps figures, all these vehicles and gear should be compatable. Rite aid also had the big chap mei choppers; one for police, one for cops, and one for firefighters as well as some of the police and soldier vehicle/figure sets. Hit Wal Mart and got RX-79(G) Gundam for $4.50 (regualar price $5 something). Real nice, espically the take apart weapons. Almost bought Char's Zaku (same price) but didn't want a PINK mech. Char=Big Gay Al?

ANSWER:

guess what Chap-Mei is obviously trying to compete with. Chap-Mei's figures may not have the same level of articulation, but I have to give them credit in the overall detail department, and I have yet to see a Chap-Mei VEHICLE that did not impress to some good degree. And you can't argue the prices.

this is only the 3rd Chap Mei vehicle i purchase. The other 2 are an army jeep (not bad) and a SWAT van. The swat van's looks great but i would have traded the hatch in the roof 4 a door in the back. Lanard's lack of a CC vehicle (i think there's a pickup truck) is a real head scratcher. About detail:Steel Head Mike has some screws/bolts in his belt; REAL METAL SCREWS, not plastic molded ones. Tools are great, too. Just about the right scale for 1/6th figures

The Wal Mart in Eunice, LA is funny; they were planning on re-modeling it and making it a Wal Mart SuperCenter, but i think the plans fell thru
(maybe). The moved a bunch of junk around, dropped a "grocery" section in the middle (frozen foods, canned goods) and gave some dept. the shaft. Toys got boned *badly*. The af asile is been moved to the back and the shelf space has been hacked in half. Most of the JP3 and Atlantis toys are several aisles away. I think this is a "make some room" sale,as opposed to "get rid of junk that's not selling" sale. No sale on Deluxe figures and i don't think the sale covered any Gundam Wing figures, but i don't think they had any anyway
