QUESTION:there is a 4 wheel drive, multi steering construction lift with
extending forks. They go by many names. Skytrac, Lull and so on.
Depending on where you live the rental yard may want you to take a
course if you are unfamiliar with this type of equipment. I would
advise hiring someone with some experience, the extra cost may save
you a lot of time and trouble. Not to mention damage.
ANSWER: Get the forklift attachment that mounts directly on the attachment plate,
and rent at least an 873 size. When you put forks on a bucket, the capacity
is greatly reduced, because of the extra leverage the load exerts. If you
can rent a Lull for 250 a day, that's how I would go. One disadvantage with
the skid steer is you can not get out of it with a load in the air, it is
not advisable to place yourself under unsupported lift arms at any time. I
got around this by climbing out the back window opening, but it's not
exactly convenient. How much do these panels weigh and how high is the
foundation wall? You might have to fabricate something to temporarily
secure the upright panels to the pallet fork vertical frame. Watch the
weight, leverage and tipping factors, it's not too hard to flip forward with
any considerable weight on the front of a skid steer.
