What is a John Deere ATV ?

QUESTION:

I know there are lots of good brands out there. Besides my John Deere skid steer, I have a Ford Tractor, and a Long tractor, which is an awful lot like my Ford.

I've had a couple of Case tractors over the years too, and you're right, they're hard to beat. Maybe I'm sentimental about the John Deere because it was my dads, I don't know. I've never owned an IH, but there is a Navistar engine in my '99 Ford Superduty, and it's awesome.

I'd never say one brand is better than the other, whether we're talking four wheelers or farm equipment, it's most likely what suits the individual and how he/she takes care of it. I will say that some brands are prone to certain things, more than others.

You hit it right on the head when you said maintenance is where it's at.

ANSWER:

That's true, when the Icon thinks of dealer, he thinks of proximity to the dealer..... like if there is a Deere dealer 5 miles from your house, and a Case dealer 200 miles from your house.....

That Case dealer would really have to be something special or have something different for you to go that much further.

Anyway, like you and the Icon agreed, it's maintainence over anything else that will keep you running.

True. I own a Toyota car because of the reputation and resale value they have. Turns out the resale value means nothing to me now, I've owned it 13 years I bought it locally and don't regret it but I know other people buy from a Toyota dealership out of town because they don't like the local one.

What I meant was, in general, a first time ATV buyer will usually check out the best known dealer in town first. If the salesperson at that dealership does his job the buyer won't even check the others.

Around here Honda is predominent because the Honda dealership is best known. Not the best dealer but the best known. I personally own a Yamaha Kodiak because it was best suited to my needs. I bought it used from the local Polaris dealer. That experience wasn't great so, even though it may not be logical, I probably will never own a Polaris.
