QUESTION:Can anyone recommend a machine mover in the San Jose CA area? I have a mill
(Index, about the size of a B'port) to move. Seems like the going rate is
$500 or so, I'd like to improve on that. If you can rent or borrow a trailer of sufficient size you might consid-
er calling in a large commercial tow truck to load and unload from the
trailer. A friend has done this twice lately. Tow truck charged $185 to
load, follow (about 8 miles) and unload and position in shop.
ANSWER: A-1 Rents on Monterey at Lewis will provide a 5000 pound Komatsu forklift
for $130 a day, delivered. I am planning to do that next month to move
a small anechoic chamber, as I have access to a flatbed truck.
