QUESTION:The thermosyphon cooling sounds like the simplest option. I did a web search
and apparently farmall cubs used this method. I was a little worried about
the comparison to automobiles because their speed keeps cooling air rushing
through the radiator and over the engine. Not so with a forklift :-). So,
would I just rig an electric fan to pull air through the radiator
continuously? Should I remove the thermostat? It sounds like I'd just
machine up a hose connection with a bolt pattern to fit over the hole in the
block where the water pump was and then plumb it directly to the bottom of
the radiator.
ANSWER: armall cubs? Geez, they are pretty modern to not have a water pump.

Thermosyphon there. Same with the old John Deere's(A's, B's, and so
on). The thing you want to keep in mind is that warm water goes up,
cool water goes down. you want to keep your plumbing so warm water in
you block can go up to the top of your radiator then down through it
as it cools. I'd imagine this would be a lot les efficient with a
crossflow radiator, hopefully yours flows down. Anyway, you won't
have much pressure driving the circulation so you want as little
restriction as possible. Yup, throw out the thermostat. also make
sure you don't have any funny curves of the hoses (especially higher
than the level of water in teh radiator). You can't have any dead
air, you need a water path all the way around. I don't see any real
reason to de-pressurize the system. If you are only running it for
short amounts of time I'd probably skip the electric fan untill you
find that you need it. probably won't. might be worth mounting a
bearing and pulley to just do the old engine drive of the fan, I
assume you need to do some belt routing anyway to drive the
alternator.
