ANSWER: You do mean Portland, Oregon, don't you? Right now, not so hard, we are sort of booming here. Lots of large projects going here, and I don't see an end in sight. Are you a union guy or non-union? We have AGC - Associated General Contractors, that hire union only employees, and ABC - Associated Builders and Contractors, that are non-union employers. Do contact whichever is appropriate for you and put in a resume.
I used to work for one of the founders of our local ABC chapter. Some employers are totally wonderful, like mine, some not so good, like anywhere. Concerned? You might try to find out how long employees stay with a company you are interested in.
