I know it is not politically correct but contact Haliburton. They have need for skilled and semi-skilled people without a criminal record to work in Iraq and many other locations overseas.
Some of the locations (like Iraq) pay fantastic and the first $80k earned overseas is tax free. (Stateside you give the feds and your state about 1/3 before you even get your check)
