Heavy Equipment Auctions

QUESTION:

For the past week Ch 225 - the Guthy-Rinker "all informercials, all the time" channel - has been dark, with just the "Off Air" slide being shown and elevator music being played.

Today the channel came "alive", but with something different. What they are broadcasting - with some NYPD Blue-style "shaky cams" - is a live construction equipment auction from Livingston, Louisiana! And it's not something you can participate with either via the DISH equipment or online - just like any "real" auction, you have to be there in person and have a bidder's number.

ANSWER:

How do you know the bandwidth is being wasted? That auction stuff may very well bring in some major bucks to DISH. I know Direct TV has frequently allocated a channel for Prudential so they can address their staff without having to fly all over the place. I am certain neither DBS company is providing those channels for free. They are in business to make money after all.
