Heavy Construction Equipment Rental
QUESTION:I am looking for a "blue book" that has rental rate information for heavy
construction equipment. It needs to be accurate for the Seattle area. It
also needs to be aotomated on a CD ROM or something similar. Currently
we are using the one put out by a company named K-III (formerly Dataquest).
We have not been satisfied with their customer service, and they don't
have a computerized version.
We will be using this "blue book" to calculate average hourly rates for
construction equipment used on force accounts. We use the
monthly rate and use the following formula.
Hourly rate = (1.05 x (Monthly Rate)/176)
I would also be interested in hearing how other government agencies deal
with hourly equipment rates on force accounts. Especially if you have
a computerized method.
ANSWER: Try RS Means. They have a product on CD that has rates on just about
anything, with geographic corrections. They even have a web page, but I
don't have the URL handy.
I think you can get the subscription through GSA - at least the Air
National Guard has them all over the place.
