QUESTION:Why do so many people not understand the differences between the economic classes?
We have the poor of course.
But then there are the lower and upper blue collar workers, then the lower and upper middle classes and then the white collars and wealthy.
Without divulging political party's, it seems that many these days often talk about the gaps in economic wealth, the shrinking middle class, the growing wealthy classes and the growing numbers of poor.
What ever happened to the term "blue collar"? Why is it that most seem to think that if you drive a truck, work on an assembly line, or work at Walmart you have a right to be middle class? These are blue collar jobs, and provide a blue collar living. That is nothing to be ashamed of, it's just a fact. I've worked blue collar jobs myself, and admittedly, it wasn't easy to make ends meet, but I did. But I never thought that because I drove a forklift or wired building, that I deserved to live in a 2000 square foot home and own two vehicles. My life then was exactly what it was supposed to be for what I did for a living.
Are people today so spoiled that they want more than they are actually willing to work and sacrifice for?
And as far as the number of poor growing? When will people realize that these aren't primarily Americans that make up this category. It is the growing number of illegals.
I've worked those blue collar jobs myself. When I did, I never expected more than what I got. There are reasons there are different classes economically in America. It is called Capitalism.
I don't work those jobs now, although I would if I had to, anymore because I've worked myself to the level I'm at. Thanks to no one else but my own merit and Gods help.
What you propose would put us well on to the road to socialism or communism.
ANSWER: I'm with you. What many don't realize is you can live in a 2000 sq ft house and be 'blue collar'. But you can't do it and have credit card balance carried over to the next month. A dollar bill doesn't come with an owners manual and the biggest difference between those who are wealthy (relatively) and those who aren't is, those who are know how to handle money and those who aren't don't.
What we have in the US today is more poor (which is an attitude problem) and broke (which is a temporary problem and can be easily corrected).
