QUESTION:Forklift Battery Maintenance?
I have a battery operated forklift that barely holds a charge.
Other than charging it everynight and putting water in the batteries,
what else can i do/add to make it retain the charge better and have better power in general?
ANSWER: I worked on all brands of industrial batteries for 2 years,
the first thing you should do is call up a local battery company that does evaluations for those batteries,
it can be just that it needs an acid adjustment or a cell needs to be replaced. For starters you can get a multimeter and a hydrometer, in the morning after it is done charging check the voltage in each cell, then take a reading with the hydrometer in the cells with the highest and lowest voltage. If the voltage is scattered around you may just need an acid adjustment
