Forklift Battery Chargers
QUESTION:I get good lights, etc. but it won't do anything but click the
starter. The question is, do I really have to go buy a 24 volt
charger? It is the battery, as opposed to any other problem. I was
hoping I could trickle charge for 24 hours and bring them up to snuff,
but that doesn't seem to be working. Anyone know?
You'll need about 25 volts to charge them up.
When you get new batteries, get four 12s... put two in parallel and
then those in series.
ANSWER: Go to any local industrial battery dealer or forklift dealer. One of them
should have an old 24 VDC motor generator charger laying around with nothing
to do. Boeing may even have a few laying out back somewhere. They will
probably be glad to get rid of it and you can use it for a welder in an
emergency if need be. The only possible setback might be thats it could be
set
for 230 vac input.
