QUESTION:I've got a Ford 4600 (Diesel) with backhoe & loader - I just had the
hydraulic system apart, and I'd like to know what pressure to adjust
the main overpressure valve (pressure relief valve).
The output of the hydraulic pump goes to the backhoe valve body, where
this valve is; there's a high-pressure line from there to the front (for the front-end loader hydraulics), and the front has a fixed
pressure valve set at 1900PSI. The back, however, is adjustable.
Obviously I need to set it to or above 1900PSI, but does anyone know where
I should set the pressure? Also, I assume the procedure for that is
obvious - put the pressure gage on the end of a line, and activate that
circuit, right?
So...if anyone has a manual for this tractor, or can provide an answer
like "every tractor in the world has a 2000 pound system" or the likes, that
would be great. If I can't find a definitive answer, I'll set it to
just over 1900 PSI and see if the performance is tolerable.
ANSWER: You might ask your question to the Ford guys/gals at:

Betcha someone will know and help ya.
