RealVideo in blaxxun and Cortona Options
QUESTION:On http://cic.nist.gov/vrml/equip.html I have a couple of links to VRML
worlds that use a live RealVideo stream in the MovieTexture node.
The first link is the "VRML world of the NIST campus". This should work
with both blaxxun and Cortona. However, with Cortona, the RealVideo
doesn't work and there are no error messages.
The second link is the "Excavator, tower crane, ..." where the RealVideo
will only display with blaxxun.
Two questions, (1) why doesn't it work with Cortona and (2) the video in
blaxxun is a bit jerky, maybe 1 frame per second. When I display the
same video stream just through RealVideo, it's very smooth. For me, the
video stream is local so I expect it to be very smooth.
If you check out the video keep in mind that it's a live video of an
outdoor construction site. It's on the east coast of the US. So if
it's night time here, there won't be much to see in the video. Also,
sometimes the video stream isn't working.
The URL of the video stream is http://real.nist.gov/real/aml.ram
ANSWER: That's strange as I have found the reverse in my case. Cortona flawlessly
plays Realvideo files that crash and freeze up RealPlayer.
To answer your first question. The problem is RealPlayer not Cortona.
Realplayer's default settings are mental to say the least, go to properties
then connection and change buffering to 5 seconds instead of ENTIRE FILE!!
set the conection speeds (plural) as approprate.
I have attached an example using streaming video which I borrowed from
Parallel Graphics.
Video Seems to work, wrong time zone so can't be sure..
